ElectronJump is a unique puzzle-platformer video game built for high school and college chemistry students. Play as Millikan the Electron and embark on an exciting journey to discover the mysteries of the atom.
Along the way, you’ll solve puzzles and solidify your understanding of key concepts including:
The electronic structure of atoms is one of the most important concepts for beginning chemistry students to grasp. It's the gateway to more advanced topics, from bonding and periodicity to molecular structure and chemical reactions.
As a teacher with over 20 years of experience, I grew tired of introducing this topic by having students memorize a confusing set of arbitrary rules. I wanted a more engaging way for them to learn, one that moved beyond rote memorization and toward genuine understanding.
That's what led me to create ElectronJump. My hope is that it provides a fresh, inquiry-based way for students to truly understand electron configurations and build a solid foundation for their future in chemistry.
ElectronJump is a passion project of mine, developed alongside my full-time job teaching dual-enrollment physics and chemistry. My goal is to keep the game free for students, but there are many costs involved in its creation and maintenance.
If you find ElectronJump to be a valuable resource for your students, please consider supporting its development. Here are a few ways you can help:
And most importantly, spread the word about ElectronJump! Please share this resource with your friends and colleagues.
Your support is truly appreciated and helps ensure that students everywhere can continue to learn with ElectronJump.
Sincerely,
